I put up yard signs, donate a little $ occasionally, and debate with friends and family, but I don't volunteer or anything like that.

Here in Canada, I belong to the liberal party.

During the recent election I helped organize ralies, helped with door knocking as well as drove people to election booths who needed a ride.

After my undergrad/Grad school, If I cannot find a sutiable job, I would definalty consider going to law school than going into politics and running.

I make small donations and do some volunteering occasionally. It's tough because niether party really represents me. I'm way too compassionate for the Repug's and way too hard nosed for the Dem's. Party politics sucks.

I'm not involved at all. I'm thinking of setting up a blog after college though.

I vote, I read petitions carefully before signing them...

But most of all, I try to instill my 2nd graders with a sense of tolerance for each other, and ultimately for other cultures and countries. I have lots of opportunity to do so all year long, and my goal is that they leave with both a sense of pride for what the US is supposed to stand for, compassion for others, and responsibility for the future of the earth's resources (if there is anything left).

It is good to teach respect for others and compassion to young children, just look at what other people teach their children.

Shocking

That is sad. My kids get "The Look" if they laugh at someone who trips and falls or otherwise meets with misfortune. I always remind them to imagine how it feels when THEY are the one hurt or embarrassed.

Of course, there are always the kids who keep their sporks from lunch to jab in the backs of whoever is unlucky enough to be standing in line in front of them...

<--had a Spork Incident last week

I don't care for repubs or dems. It's a bunch of BS. This country needs a FLUSH of the system and a total change on how we do business.

It's best to wait it out to see if it will fail on it's on.

im guessing that gradual change might be a better way to solve the issues...i think that the optimism in america cant be defeated..even if things get disgusting and the night seems over us..i think we will try to make a better future as a country collectively....there are always terrible hiccups inbetween..i think people have to really believe that we can make things better before its going to happen

LOL Responsibility for the future of earths resources! What the HELL does that mean? Does reponsibilty mean use them to further technology and free market demands to keep the economy strong so that people have jobs and can eat and pay the bills or does it mean to help preserve them so that everyone has to live in caves?

So if she promotes recycling in class that would be a bad thing? IMO she sounds like a great teacher as long as her academic teaching is on par with her social teaching (and yes, learning to be social is part of the school system).

I'm not politically active at all, besides voting. I have no desire to be involved with corrupt and inefficient politicians.

So in other words, you instill in them left wing propaganda.
