You're the first person I've ever encountered who would take a 300 HP all motor LS1 over a 800 HP twin turbo LS1.

Suit yourself. ;)

No, I never said that. Read carefully next time. An all motor car > an FI car all day. A 500hp all motor car vs a 500hp FI car, all motor is better IMO.

I'd trade my car for a twin turbo Supra any day..but if I was to have a choice of the above car vs one...then it would be no question.

You had a JB4 ordered before you even picked up the car. :awe::thumbsup:

Thing is getting quicker every day as it cools off. Excited for my new parts to come in.

Yes indeed it has :)

Probably my favorite DD thus far. A few more parts and I'll be incredibly happy with it's day to day driveability and power, and I'm track toy hunting right now.

My JB4 N55 says otherwise, but to each his own :)

I love my JB4 but I have been way too lazy to upgrade the firmware... I need to do that.

That depends on so many factors. I don't think it's really possible to make a blanket statement like that.

Entirely missed my point but ok. Throw a blower on that 500 HP all motor car, now it's 800 hp and better than the all motor car at every point on the dyno sheet. Ergo, FI > all motor.

Of course you can skew the truth by insisting that you can only compare a 7L all motor car to a 1.0 liter turbocharged banana... I'll take the best of both thanks :D

Good for you. I'm not looking to have the fastest car out there or the most HP. I find an all motor built car sounds 1000% better than any FI car, and is a lot cooler. And once of course more impressive when you get to the higher HP ranges.

FI owns NA at the same powerlevel.

The FI will have boatloads more torque and at a lower RPM.

Only downside of FI is turbo lag.

Today's 10 second Civic > yesterday's 17 second Nissan and tomorrow's (or next month's or next year's) 13 second [whatever car you haven't bought yet]. Also, in before you bring up your rich high school friend's 3 second Lamborghini because you have nothing to bring to the table yourself.

Don't expect much more from someone who thinks year or number made make a car "better".

You should buy a base 2012 Corvette and go find a parking lot full of 100% identical base 2011 Corvettes to talk shit to because yours is a 2012. :awe: Then sell it for a 2013 when it's still the same car but with 15 more HP. That crowd would be perfect for a baller like you.

You're not a "car guy". Any real car guy would put that LS1 in that 240SX. But that's not good enough for you because a Nissan won't make the neighbors jealous. Real car guys will spend more than the car is worth on parts to revitalize a car they love rather than throw it away because it's no longer trendy or baller or didn't cost enough to brag about how much you paid for it. You better believe even if I had the money for a Veyron, I'd still have my old Camry parked next to it albeit with a better than showroom paint job and a lot more power.

Wait a minute..., you're baller. You should be able to both buy that new $50,000 car AND do the LS swap in your 240SX... why is it a choice?

I will hold myself out for ridicule.

If my car gets me A-B I'm happy.

I drive an orange Honda Element. It's ugly. It's slow. It is noisy. It has an auto transmission. It handles poorly. It isn't very comfy. It has almost no creature comforts. I don't care about dings. I haven't washed my car in over five years (includes the Element and my previous car), so at this point the dirt is structural.

I'm totally happy driving it. :)

I wonder why America never got the SR20 240sx... they could have at least put it in the Sentra and it probably would have overshadowed the eclipses and integras just do to cheap and powerful

Well, to each his needs, right?

Ours has to have a minimum tow rating of 5000#. Sorta narrows the field a bit.

For a knock-around vehicle, the 1997 Camry we just got will work out well. No need for a manual.....been there, lived that for decades....just don't want any more, or at least for now.

The only thing I'm usually picky about universally would have to be the color of the car. I don't care if I live in the south with the crazy temperatures, I'm going to own a black car. Unless it's a station wagon, because that's just creepy.

I don't really care about manual vs. automatic in regard to a daily driver. Daily drivers are more about comfort, and frankly... an automatic is "easy mode", which is nice when you have to put up with a lot of stop and go traffic or the idiocy of southern drivers. When it comes to daily drivers, I do prefer a car with a decent amount of power. There are sometimes situations where you want to accelerate faster than normal, and no it's not always when some Civic with a huge muffler is giving you grief. ;) I also tend to prefer a bit more technology in my daily drivers... things such as built-in navigation/display are a must. Although, it looks like there are some really nice aftermarket units (I saw a nifty Clarion one for ~$800) that would probably be a lot better than the factory ones.

For a fun car, I'd prefer manual, and the rest really depends on the application. I've never really been about the silly Tim Taylor "More Power!" (go ahead and do the grunt -- you know you want to) mantra. I don't live my life a quarter mile at a time, so I prefer a good mix of performance. ;) I'd much rather own a MR2 than a Cobra, and I'd be in heaven with a GT-R -- even though it's only a V6.

Absolutely has to have more power or be well known to be modified easily to have more power than 99.9% of cars I'll likely ever end up next to at a light or merge. Probably why my top two cars would be the Supra TT and 03/04 Cobra.

I'm not an aggressive driver at all. It's purely defensive. People being high and mighty competitive dicks on the road because they have a slightly better/faster car than average is the one thing I have never been able to let go. I need to be able to respond with unconditional annihilation and return what they started 100 fold if I become the target of their smug ego. I'm a fond believer of the speak softly and carry a big stick philosophy.

You know what I'm talking about, when someone in a little beater Corolla or something is just waiting for the light, and some little "I'm too cool for myself" prick in a POS 328i or similar purposely and aggressively swerves and brakes into the wrong lane at the intersection clearly marked "LANE ENDING" before the 2 to 1 merge and is creeping as the light begins to change. I can't stand those kinds of people, they need a 600+ HP serving of justice.

Don't really care about much else if the car can't get out of it's own way and some Mexican in a Escalade on 26's with Magnaflows feels empowered to glare you down with this smug look on his face as he makes it a point to ride his bumper into your rear window like he's trying to rub it in how slow your car is every time you're trying to accelerate.

People are just animals, and nobody fucks with the lions in nature. People only understand power and being bitchslapped in the face when they stick their nose where it doesn't belong.

Ex, you & I have discussed this before. Same thing happens to guys on bikes all the time. Just a couple months ago, I decided to let them go. Way too many cops here to be making the thousands of morons here gag on my exhaust fumes. But, I used to be the same way. If they started it (which was always the case), I finished it. I still mind my own business & do my own thing as I always have, but now I let them go. I get revved up all the time, almost every day on my way home from work.

Vettes, Vipers, Ferrari's, Civics, damn Challengers, Bimmers, you name it. Funny thing is though, I see this happen to bikes a lot more than I see it happen to other cars.

OP, to answer your question, I am extremely picky about my vehicles, as I am about everything I spend money on. When I bought my Tahoe, I had specific requirements, which it exceeded & it had to be black on black. It wasn't a fluke that I ended up with a Tahoe.

Right next to the '94 & '96 Accords I purchased new, it's the best vehicle I've ever owned.

30+ mpg and air conditioning
Alls I need is AC and heating. If I'm warm when it's -30 outside (I posted a picture of my car saying -30C a months back) then I'm happy. If I'm cool when it's +30C, I'm happy. Stuff like rush hour traffic doesn't bother me as long as my temp is good.

My Ford Tempo had surprisingly good heating. Even when idling it would blast hot air. My Civic and Corolla cool off dramatically at red lights and start to blow cool air.

Im picky about interior, if its junk i have alot of trouble owning the car. If its a stripped race-spec interior, thats fine, but i dont like plastics and creeking ect. A good interior sells a car for me.

Speaking of FI VS all motor...

Id take a cosworth with track suspention, stripped interior, racing seats, harness, race suspention, and kick the shit out of a All motor or FI car on the road corse all day long. In America its all about straight line HP, but over in germany at the Nurburgring, theres a guy in a V-10 Viper getting his ass kicked by a stripped race-spec toyota. Im just sick of the HP battles...

OP, I owned the same trans am in auto and now manual and it's so much more fun to drive with a stick. I would trade your car or swap in a manual you are really missing out.

My requirements for next time: LS1 or better, manual, rwd, irs and track package.

That isn't normal. Low coolant perhaps?

You actually own all those cars? Why don't you sell those 3 shitty cars and buy 1 decent car?

My neighbor has a Tahoe, it leaks rear diff fluid all over the place. He can't even park it in his driveway because it leaks too much. He has taken it in 3 times and it still leaks. I'm just waiting for it to blow up and see what he gets to replace it.
