How on earth to install nvidia linux drivers if I cant even boot into X?

BD2003

Red Hat 7.3 hangs whenever KDE begins to load, and I assume this has to do with the fact that the nforce and geforce4 drivers arent quite there yet. Of course I can download them easy enough in windows, but how do I get to them in linux?

I obviously cant copy it over due to different file system problems, cant download it straight from linux for obvious reasons...

I could perhaps burn them onto a cd, but how in the hell do I get to the files from a linux command line? I wouldnt even know where to begin to mount a cd drive in command line.

And once im there, how to install them?

And if its not the drivers, and idea why KDE always hangs?

Do you have an older video card to put in there to get it booted up and running? Once you get it running, you can d/l the latest drivers and go from there. I had to do that to get SuSE 7.3 even to install as it did not like my GeForce3 at all and locked up at stage 7 every time.

If you're comfortable with the command line boot with the kernel option 'single' and it'll boot you up with no X and you can setup everything from there.
