I was 7 or 8.

The scene where she bounces on the bed scared me so bad I did not sleep in my bed for over a month.

I slept on the couch in the living room because yeah, fuck getting bounced on a bed by the devil.

6 or 7. And it was at a freaking drive-in theater. Mom worked 2nd shift so my sister watched me. I went where she went. There was a line of trees behind the theater and was sure Linda Blair was sneak up behind me. Any time that green face was on the screen I hid behind the seat.

That movie is still creepy.

Not sure exactly...first time I saw it I didn't stay awake. 19?

Actually saw it all before getting out of college, just can't remember when. By then I had played FEAR, it wasn't particularly shocking. :p

I was nine and like twinrider1 saw it a a drive-in. Though I understood it was only movie make believe, it was my introduction to the concept of demonic possession which scared the bejesus out of me. The fact the character possessed was also a child compounded the fear factor.

It remains the only movie to ever affect my ability to peacefully drift off to sleep.

A classic but I doubt it holds up well to a modern audience or someone whom was not of an impressionable age when first viewing it.

I had been home from Vietnam about a year when it first came out. I remember thinking..."Damn, this ain't scary at all.", as the folks (especially the wimmenz) screamed at every little "BOO! moment."

It came out when I was in college. A bunch of us (mixed male/female, quite a few horror movie haters) when to see it. All of us (but one) pretty much laughed our heads off through it-even for the era the special effects were pretty hokie. The exception-who was terrified-was very much under the influence of various substances at the time.

Scariest thing about the movie is the great soundtrack that accompanies it. But I wouldn't let a kid watch it (or any other modern horror movie). Youth and innocence are too precious to intentionally piss away.

My asshole parents took me to the theater in '73 (I was 8 at the time) to see this because they couldnt find a sitter. I kept my eyes closed throughout the whole movie. They also took me to see the Godfather for the same reasons. The only part about the Godfather that freaked me out as a little kid was the horse-head scene.

60s-70s parents were assholes.

Never saw the first, but when I had a sleep over with my friend back when I was in the fifth grade I had my mom rent us part III. Scared the shit out of me! LOL Best horror flick if you ask me. Nothing comes close. All others are just blood and guts crap. Although, Day Of The Dead freaks me out.

Saw it once, age 61, director's cut. Eh, not my cup of tea to put it mildly.
