Just curious... If you purchased one in last 5yrs did it make a difference over the old one (better/worse)?

Pretty old, it's an old school rigid side king waterbed.

I love it though, & don't plan on giving it up anytime soon.

Finding good sheets for it is a bitch though.

I bought a new mattress about 2 years ago now. It was worth every penny I spent on it, and I spent quite a bit. Made a huge difference in my quality of sleep.

I bought one two years ago I think. My ol one was one of those cheapy $20 foam ones, and was so old it was just a few inches thick in the middle. So needless to say, my new Sealy extra firm is a marked improvement :)

shortly after I moved back home after graduating college (last May), I realized that I was sleeping on the same bed (twin size) that I had been sleeping on since 5th grade. and I've grown a lot since then :p after my parents walked in on me sleeping once and noticed that my feet hung off the bed, they agreed to buy me a brand new queen-sized bed for my birthday that August. :D

made a pretty big difference. the mattress is harder, which kinda sucks, but it'll be nice and soft once it's fully broken in. but with the new bed, I can lay straight out and my feet don't hang off the bed, and I can actually roll over in my sleep without falling off.

Just replaced ours (along with purchasing an entire new bedroom suit) last fall. Thought about a latex/memory foam for awhile, but my wife didn't like the feel of them and the more I researched and asked around, the more I discovered the possible cons with them (all I'd heard previously were the pros.) We ended up getting a plush king-sized Simmons Beauty Rest pillowtop. I LOVE this thing.

Less than a year old! It's better than our old one. It's really soft and comfortable. :)

I've got an authentic japanese futon matress on a wood-plank base. It gives me the best sleep I've ever hand, and it'll never wear out (no springs). My dad bought it during his residency for something like $200 for matress and base.

2 years old and sure makes a racket already.( :( about the bed, :D about getting it that way ) I think we'll have to call up the store, since I think it has a 5 year warranty.

that's one advantage to a springless mattress. :), our latex mattress has NEVER squeeked and NEVER will. :)

a huge blessing when you have 3 kids like we do.

you'll be able to keep making more, with out the others ever knowing. :)

anyway, tell me more about this latex mattress, perhaps if I can talk the store into taking this one back and upselling, they'd be for it.

latex, like rubber, but whipped into a foam. only problem with it that i've seen is our king size mattress weighs 200 lbs.

we paid $1000.00 for it. extremely comfortable and basically will last 25 to 30 years. spring mattresses all break down quicker. also with the latex you never have to turn it because it never gets lumpy nor does it sag in the middle.

great investment.

Do you end up with a hammock type effect where your mrs. keeps rolling into you? I get very warm when I sleep, and though I'm all for snuggling, I can't sleep that way very well.

We got our new bed when we moved into our house so it's almost 4 yrs old. I think it was around $950 when we got it.

i think our matress has to be over 30+ years old, but never really needed to replace it until right now... you can tell. it squeaks, and there is a huge sink hole in the middle

I'm sleeping in my grandfathers twin frame ( >50 years old) but the mattresses are 10 year old Sealys I believe. The frame is old and tough. I'm 6'1" and my feet pretty much hit the frame while I sleep unless I curl up. I'm in a small room though, so I don't really have options.

no hammock effect with the latex mattress. it has most of the advantages of individually wrapped coil mattresses. my kids could jump on the mattress on one end and i wouldn't feel anything on my end.

I hope you don't have it on carpet. I had a queen waterbed and when I got rid of it the rug I had it on was literally stuck to the floor.

just got a new serta perfect sleeper.. 12" deep, no pillow top (pillow tops are funky).

replaced a 26 y/o sealy posturpedic. That biotch was like sleeping on concrete. I actually got a bruise one time when I slept on my side for like 12 hours.... ok fine I was passed out but still.

It's about 3 years old, or so.

It made the most difference in the fact that we went from a Double to a Queen.
