It seems like AT has been around since the 90s and had it's peak in the mid 90s and early 2000s before people moved onto to Reddit an other social media. This has to be one of the best and oldest OT forum on a major techsite. WIth that said, I imagine most members joined up on ATOT right around the time current college freshman were born. So how old are you? Are there a lot of younger users here or do they just come here to read the occasional review of a new GPU.

I'm in my 30s. Long time lurker before ever posting. Found ATOT and Hot Deals around 99.

Just turned 35 last month. FML

My brother originally found the site (we were both into hardware and building computers; I still build my own desktops but don't keep up with hardware anymore) and I think he joined around 1999? AT/ATOT looked cool so I joined as well.

I like that this forum has its place. Due to the narrow audience type of being older, in IT mostly, and make above average salary, ATOT is surprisingly a good place to ask about:

1. Career related crap.
2. Home owner crap
3. Anything 30-40-50 yr old suburban, home-owning, business techies have questions about
etc.

Reddit has its downsides of its voting system - it promotes only displaying like-minded responses.

Corvette forum has quite a few people with join dates in '97. Most of those people are probably dead because most Corvette owners are old to begin with.

I'm 31, going to be 32 in May... feels crazy to think I'm this old. I feel more like I'm in my early 20's. Time just goes by so fast now that I'm done school, like where did the last 10 years go, it's nuts.

BRB need to make sure no kids are on my lawn snow bank.

I'm 61 but I pass for mid-40's at least. The only problem is that I've lost a lot of weight and the fat in my face hasn't dissipated evenly so now I have these hollowed out cheeks that make me look like a zombie or a vampire. It's not a bad look but I don't really like it.

And this is the second iteration of the forums. I think the originals started in 1997? IIRC I was a member of the original ones, but didn't sign up here for a couple of years because I was always at RivaZone.

Y'alls a bunch of fucking kids...
I have to constantly remind myself that I'm not. I don't like being trapped in an old person's body. I could do worse but still, there's no substitute for actually being young.
