How old can a reference letter be?

I'm applying for a job in Thailand and they need a reference letter. I have 3 that date back 9-10 months. Can I still use a 9 month old reference letter? I've read that some people have used 2 year old reference letters.

I guess every situation is different, but what's the basic rule?

As long as your parole officer had good things to say, why not?

If somebody in the past had the same name as you you might be able to find a reference letter that's over one hundred years old. I don't think the employer would be very impressed but you could try.
