Thought some of you could use this info for now and some of you for years down the road:
HOW OFTEN SHOULD A MAN IN HIS 50s HAVE SEX?
A) Once a year
B) Twice a month
C) Three times a week
ANSWER: C.
An active sex life as you get older can protect against prostate cancer.
A report in the January issue of the British Journal of Urology International discovered men in their 50s who were most sexually active - engaging in sexual activity more than ten times a month - had a 'small' level of protection against the disease compared with men who were less sexually active.
It is thought that in later life, sexual activity releases some of the toxins from the prostate gland that can lead to cancer.
However, having lots of sex when you are a younger man has the opposite effect - with the study finding that men in their 20s and 30s who have sex more than 20 times a month have an increased risk of prostate cancer.
It is thought a high sex drive in young men is linked to higher levels of the male sex hormone testosterone, which is the same hormone that fuels prostate cancer.
Researchers concluded that maintaining a regular sex life is best for men's health. Each year, 30,000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed in Britain. It is the second most common cause of death for men in the UK, killing 10,000 a year.
