bought a mobo/cpu combo off the forums. no problems with the transaction. got the parts and can't the board/cpu to post. i've tried different PSUs/ram. i've tried to use a working cpu in the board from the forums and no go. same with the cpu from the forums, threw it in a working mobo of mine and no luck.

i've never had this happen and i would really just like to get a refund. i doubt the seller will have a problem with that but i feel like an asshole for asking. i'm pretty confident the problem isn't on my end.

again, the seller has been great from the beginning. just curious how often this happens and if it's looked down for asking money back if the parts don't work for the buyer.

how about you uh, contact him and see what he says? And if the parts dont' work, then you're perfectly fine asking for a refund, and have every right for one.

You shouldnt have to keep a part that isnt working. Asking for a refund isn't out of line.

You tested in a known working system and it didn't run. You tried several different things. In my book, you are well within your rights to ask for a refund without feeling bad.

Yeah, like everyone has said..buying parts from someone, and having the parts not work, asking for a re-fund only right.

I had this happen to some extent.

I bought a complete system (hey it was a good deal), but when I got it it wouldn't run for more than 5 min tops.

Seller was great thoughout the ordeal and I finally figured out it was a bad stick of memory.

At that point I wasn't sure what to do....everything worked except for the one stick of RAM.

Fortunately I was able to track down another stick at no cost (from another source), so I just let it go.

In your situation though... I think it's reasonable to request a refund.
