How often does YOUR Vista crash?

Past 3 days, 2 times. WTF. XP has bluescreened on me maybe... 2 times this whole past year. Before, most of my BSODs were RAM related when my OCZ VX would fry despite running them at rated specs and doing substantial Memtest86s.

Using RC2 for a couple months. I don't think it has crashed yet. I've only had the issue of some programs not wanting to install (Farstone Game Drive 10, but 11 fixed this).

Beta 2 had one system crash (ie reboot). RTM has had applications lock up (probably their issue) but the OS was still fine and dandy.

Since RC2 i don't ever recalling a single crash. Been using RTM Business edition for almost 3 weeks now, and it hasn't crashed.

No Crashes yet on RTM. Been running since Nov 13th.

I've had some IE and app crashes.

The wife's Vista has blown chunks a couple times but it did under XP too. I'm too lazy to track down what the issue is. I suspect driver or hardware.

I went through a multitude of crashing at one point or another, but that is mainly a driver issue. I swap different brands of videocards in and out, along with sound cards testing different things and so I wipe it about once a month. 🙂

I've been using Vista Ultimate RTM since the middle of November and haven't had a single system failure. I do get the odd application crash, but that's to be expected on a brand-new platform. The move from XP to Vista has been remarkably headache-free.

Not yet. 1/30. The people who have it already got it through developer programs or other channels.

Correction. I went back and looked. Apparently I crashed once due to a video card issue, and once due to a power loss 😛

I have never seen a blue screen in Vista and I've used RC1 5600, 5728, RC2, and RTM. It does run really slow for me however.

What's your ram? Because Vista runs faster on my laptop than XP does (my laptop has 2ghz PM CPU, 2gb ram).

I have a P3 3.06Ghz with 2GB of DDR400 and a ATI Radeon x800 and it is extremely sluggish. There is a delay just minimizing and maximizing windows and video won't play w/o skipping. RC1 worked fine. Vista stopped working properly for me since RC2 and the issue hasn't been fixed in RTM. Don't know what the deal is but I'll just stick with XP MCE.

Ouch. Sounds like video driver 🙁

Maybe, but it does it with both the default driver and ATI's driver. *shrug* There is also image corruption in Media Center. All of this started with RC2. Everything worked fine in RC1 and everything works fine in XP's Media Center.

On RTM: one crash since I loaded it up back when it was dropped to MSDN subs. Along with average use I run several beta apps, beta drivers (sh!t, you have to), and lots of dev work. IMO impressive.

Never... and it also seems to handle game crashes (Battlefield 2) much better than XP ever did. The notification and return to desktop is very quick. I must have some sort of CPU/memory protection in place to handle locked apps. XP wouldn't even log an event for half it's crashes, let alone be responsive during the crash.

The only crashes I have gotten with Vista from RC1 through RTM have been driver related. Even that is by design as I was trying to use unsigned drivers on the 64-bit version.
