The same configuration today is $200 more then yesterday, is this normal?
How often do they change their "Hot Deals"?

What I want does not need to be Dell but I would like to buy within the next couple weeks.

I want T7300 or T7500 processor. Another option is the AMD TL-64, how does it compare to these? (I can't find up to date comparisons of these CPUs)

120Gb HD
2Gb RAM
128Mb graphics card (or at least something that can run Aero Graphics)
17" display
less than $1500

Thanks

They change their deals daily from what i can see. Although it wont be daily for your specific part of the world, there was a free printer deal at the weekend with a laptop for example, only for last weekend though.

Also ive read that many people who phone in get given better deals though "haggling". I missed the free printer deal and i emailed in and they let me have it anyways.

I also cant find any benchmarks, didnt look for very long though. I gather the T7xxx are still the best mobile cpu's around, better than the TL-xx but the TL are still pretty decent as well.

You're exactly right, I called them up and got a much better deal. Btw the 17" is because this thing will rarely be moved so 17" is much better. This is for my mother and they also talked her into some other things like printer as well (hehe) but she needed those anyways. For $1,559 CA (not including printer) she got:

Core 2 Duo T7500 CPU
160Gb HD
2Gb DDR2-667 RAM
256Mb 8600-GT GPU (would have been fine with just the 128 8400 but that would not have brought the price down)
+ built in webcam
+ Vista Home Premium & Office 2007
+ other stuff

where as online for the same price she would have got:

Core 2 Duo T7300
80Gb HD
2Gb DDR2-667
128Mb 8400-GS
+ Vista Home Premium

Done deal! Thanks everyone for your opinions!
