How often does Apple lower their prices?

I'm going to be buying an Apple Powermac G4 in the next couple of months and was wondering how often Apple lowers their prices. I know that every so often they update the specs and prices and would feel really stupid if I bought a notebook now but had I waited 3 weeks I could get a better price or better specs.

They just updated them, so I would not be expecting anything soon (especially in the next 3 weeks). I too recently purchased a powerbook and started a thread about whether to wait/or go on and purchase a powerbook here that you may find helpful.
 
Yeah they rarly lower them but if you want to be sure I'll let you know when I buy something from apple and guaranteed 2 weeks later the price will be lower.

False. Compare a PowerBook to a similarly equipped Thinkpad T42 and you'll see the price difference is marginal.
 
Nothing beats a Powerbook as far as design is concerned. Its all subjective, but I cannot find any faults in the Powerbook design.

tweakmm, you live in the Bay Area? Might know of a deal for you depending on which PowerMac G4 you were looking at, but you have to be local.

NEVER does Apple lower prices. The items you see on sale at retailers are most often out of date items.
< Hates Apple Co INC., Likes their gear, but won't buy it new.

This is the truth. Last summer I was comparing a T40 with a PowerBook. Since I wasn't using it for games, both of them felt equally snappy and were of relatively equal performance. I chose the T40 for compatability reasons, but the apples aren't any more than the IBMs.

IBM has much better warrany support though. Apple's sucks.

Yep, I went with a Sony V505 over the Powerbook. The fact that I could pay off the Sony in 12mo no interest also helped. 😉
 
I've been keeping an eye on the iBooks and noticed that they never lower the prices. They just sell you better hardware for the same price.

If you look at the Special Deals portion of their site you will find the last generation stuff for lower prices. You can also find refurbed stuff.

I have a 12" PBook if you want one at a good deal 😀
 
just get an apple loan, thats what i did. now i have this nice shiny computer that i never use. But at least its stylish. Pshh.
 
I cant beleive people use SEXY to describe a computer, who cares what it looks like, if it does the same thing, cheaper always = better

i wouldent by a HP if my life depended on it, thoes Asus A64 lappys for less then 1500$ i woudl buy

and unless you are the weakest perrson ever 8lbs isnt that much

Obviously you have never carried a laptop around for long periods of time. On top of that, how often is the laptop the only thing I carry? The answer is never. I always have something else, from my camera and it's host of accessories or DLT tapes, or whatever.

I paid less than $1500 for both of my laptops, in fact, one was under $1000, brand new.
 
if you'r not a student, find someone who is and use their discount... thats about as big of a discount as you'll find
