:Q I purchased the AcerAspire 3680-2022 Laptop for my son last week. What a surprise when he wrote me this note: "just finished installing SuSE Linux on my new laptop. It works great. Turns out Acer sells a version of this model with Linux installed so everything works great under Linux.
So now I split the hard drive into two partitions and I can boot Windows or Linux. I also got another 512MB of RAM today and put in it.
Also, once I got Linux installed and looked into the hardware I got another surprise.
According to the box, the website, and the sticker on the computer, it contains an Intel Celeron M model 420. Which is a 1.6 G Hz processor (and a pretty decent one, the best of the mobile Intel CPU's actually other than the full on Pentium M). However, once I looked into the hardware, I found that it actually contains an Intel Celeron M 430, which is a model higher, and runs at a faster 1.733 G Hz and is a newer architecture too. Sweet. How often does a manufacturing screw-up happen in your favour?! They are on sale at Microcenter for $399. with $50 mfg rebate, look it up, it's a good deal!
