How often do you use the CDRW in your laptop?

I'm looking around for a laptop and one of the requirements has been a dvd/cdrw drive, but I've been rethinking the CDRW component as it adds like $150 to the price. I doubt I'll be using it as my main system, so I'm not sure that I'd use the CDRW function much, though I think it would be nice to have if I needed it.

I mostly use the DVD-RW drive in my desktop for backing up movies and duping CDs.

What do you guys think? How often do you use the CDRW function of your laptops?

I just have a DVD-ROM on my notebook and I've never felt the need for a CD-RW drive. But heck, I seldom use the ones on my desktop :)

I've never had a need for a CD-RW in my laptop. The only time I ever need to move files between it and my desktops manually is right after a fresh install of an OS, before the wireless card drivers are installed, and a USB pen drive is good enough for that.

I have been using them alot to take data from my laptop to my computer or vice versa. CD-RWs are pretty cool.

I have an IBM X24 ultraportable and a docking station with DVD... I never really felt the need for a CD-RW, been totally happy with "just" the DVD.

Most of the time I use it without the dock= without any drives... only if I need to install something i use the dock.

Smaller files I transfer with CF cards as the IBM has build-in CF reader, and my main machine has HP Photosmart printer with CF reader...

Oh, and I have WLAN so I can connect to internet or my main rig without any extra cables... bliss.

I second that!!! Now that I have a wireless router+ wireless nic in the lappy= no need for stupid CD-RWs...

Considering its faster than the burner in my desktop, I'd say I use it quite a bit :)
