I've seen a number of "list all your video card/CPU" threads and it's fun to see what people have done.
Here, you can list all the times you've upgraded everything! List the actual part/year of the upgrade if you want (assuming you can remember!)
I bought my first computer in 1992 from some local shop, though I had used my parents' PS/2 since 1986. Since then I've done all the upgrading myself. To whit:
Video Cards
8 video cards in 24 years.
Trident 8900 ISA 1mb was my first.
5870 purchased in 2010 was my last.
The 4870 before that was my least favorite. Stupid loud blower cooler. Bleh.
CPU
8 CPUs
386-DX40 was the first
Phenom II X4 965 is the current CPU from 2010.
I've had only one Intel CPU, a P120. The AMD chips were either the best out there (three Athlons) or just incredible deals.
Power Supply
I've had 6 power supplies, though I only can remember the brand of one of them - my current Corsair HX650 from 2010.
Monitors
I've only had three in 24 years.
First was a 14" no name 1024x768.
Second was a fantastic 20" Dell 1600x1200 flatscreen with a Sony Trinitron tube I got in 2001 for free.
Current is a 2560x1600 HP 30" ZR30w from 2010.
Optical Drive
A Whopping two of these.
First was a HP CD/RW as a Christmas gift in the late '90s and the current is some name brand DVD/RW. I think it's Lite-On. It doesn't have the brand on the front plate.
Cases
Four that I can think of. The first two were no name junk. The third was an Antec branded Chieftec that was sturdy enough to stand and jump on. The current is a Lian-Li B-25 that I quite like except for its lack of USB 3 ports on the front.
Hard Drives, RAM
I've had a billion hard drives, most of which I can't remember. I have an Intel SSD and a few WD HDs currently. I remember once I specifically bought an IBM HD in 2000 or so that was rated highly.
As for RAM, I can only remember one brand, some Micron I got in 2000 or 2001.
