How often do you travel for work?

My job requires about 25% traveling and I'm enjoying it so far. Having the ability to travel to areas where I've never been to before and getting an opportunity to explore is pretty cool. It's even better when you're being paid to do it and you get a per diem rate for food. I'm not sure if I'll feel the same after a few years though, but I love it so far. So anyone travel often for work? How do you like it?

Nowhere near as much as I used to.

My biggest year was 2001:

Seattle (twice)
LA
San Francisco
Dallas
Indianapolis (Got home at 1am 9/11)
Prudhoe Bay (8 times)
Dutch Harbor
Kenai
Maui (OK OK... that was vacation)

At one stretch I was away from home for almost a month.

Funny you should ask, I just added up my travel time. Since the beginning of the year I have been on the road sixty seven nights. I get to see some cool places but being away from family gets old.

1-2 weeks per year

our job description used to say 25% or 10% travel, but we haven't done that in years

I got stationed in Okinawa, Japan a little over a year ago, and ive been to Korea twice and just got back from the Philippines last week. Each time was for a little over a month. I also went to a small island off the coast of Okinawa for a month (Ie Shima). In total when i add it up, ive lived over here for 13 months, and ive been gone for over 4 of them, almost 5.

There for a while it was 2-3 weeks a year. Due to budget cuts and the fact that I've been taking so many classes to finish my MBA, it's more like 1 week a year. Usually I either go to conferences at Novell's old headquarters in Utah or I go to technical training wherever it's taught. (D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Nashville, etc)

I used to have to travel a lot (about 6 years ago). At the time I was usually gone several days at a time once or twice a month. Sucked ASS. Now I have to travel 3 or 4 times a year.

I work for an engineering company that does a lot of ship-based work. In my first 12 months here, I've spent about 30 nights away from home, or about 4.5-5 weeks if you count full days away.
