How often do you think about death?

I mean, many of us here are young, between the ages of 15 and 35 I would say. I am 25. But does anyone else ever catch him/herself, in the midst of doing something fun and youthful, having thoughts about the day that will inevitably come when you will fade away (hopefully peacefully) and cease to exist? Does it ever hit you like a ton of bricks in the middle of your happiness? And if not about your own death, do you ever think about the day, knowing how much your parents love you, when you have to watch them die in front of you?

I have these thoughts from time to time, and they get me so depressed. :(

Just wondering if I'm the only one...

I live each day as if it were my last. It's not depressing at all -- you want to live life to the fullest! :D

It is quite sad, but you always have to remember that death is the end result of life. It is inevitable. Your parents love you, and do not want their death to be a burden upon you. They lived their life so that you could have your own. One cannot live forever.

It kinda sucks for me.

My days since I started JHS have been pretty much wake up, piss away time, go to school, piss away more time. Come back from school, piss away more time. Go to bed, repeat.

replace "school" with "work" and you have the rest of your life summed up right there.

It probably doesn't make a lot of sense to obsess over something you have no power over.

A couple days a week at least.

Everytime I am out walking or biking at night I get a weird surreal feeling and I think about my eventual death, what it will be like (consciousness? sitting in the ground? reincarnated as a cat? heaven/hell), how will people react when I die, etc.

Then I think about how small I feel in relation to the whole world and how complex everything around me is.

I know many of you do not believe in God but I just keep the faith so that when I die I can get to heaven. I hope it exists and I hope I get there.

Thinking of death in old age doesen't scare or worry me, it's death in the short term that I tend to think about.

Car accidents, etc.

And not necessarily myself, either. Usually my girlfriend...

I think it's a side effect of her being far away. My mind plays horrible tricks on me......

I was raised a Christian...but my faith wavors...and I wonder if there truly is a party after the fat lady sings...these days I'm not too convinced.

I think about it, but don't dwell on it.

If there is more beyond life, that's cool with me. If there isn't, I won't know about it anyway.

At any rate, I'll become part of the universe again and part of the larger whole. Or some chit like that.

Not really.

Death is inevitable. Not something to worry about, nor is it an excuse to throw your life away.

Oh, I don't think I'm throwing it away...unless I am NEFFING here...but it just makes me sad from time to time, most of all when I think about my parents. I am an only child, so I'll have no sibblings to help.

I no longer live with either parent, but I would say I am quite close to both.

I don't think about it much at all, but hey I'm 17 with a pretty nice life. I abstain from the whole afterlife buisness. It gives me more motivation, as I know there will be nothing after I die. This may sound depressing, but when u think about, nothing is nothing. You don't exist. You're not consious to experiance this nonexistance, so there is not pain or boredom. Death may stop life, but death is not torment. Granted, I will not accpet death openly either, as I can do MUCH more alive than dead.

Sooo, instead of depressing yourself, why don't you do something that will make your parents proud? Feel good about yourself for making them happy.

Man, I think that was the first positive post I've ever made here.

I was really getting at the mentality: "I'm gonna die anyway, so let's get wasted!"
