How often do you replace your toothbrush?

Just realized this morning I've been using my current toothbrush for quite a while. At least 4 months, so I tossed it since I have several freebies from teeth cleanings.

How often do you replace your toothbrush? What's the expert/dentist ruling on this?

I don't know what the expert ruling is, but generally I just look and see when it's getting worn down, then I replace it.

whenever I get my free one every 6 months.

edit: don't most have 'wear indicators'?

Once it starts looking like a wire brush, that's when it's time to change it.
