how often do you reinstall your os?

Format/OS reinstall: ~ twice a year

Turn off the pc every night. Because I'm paying for electricity.

Whenever I change the mobo.
I've never had any serious issues with XP.

I do it about once a year but lately i've been ghosting my system so i just go off on the ghost backup

wow.... if you need to reformat every 2 months, you have a problem. Get yourself a windows xp for idiots book or something... there should be no need to do that unless your computer is completly messed up. I've had the same xp install for 2 years now...

Only if my hard drive dies. For huge upgrades where windows won't boot, I still don't clean install, I just use repair.
Clean install sucks, it's so much hassle. I NEVER format. I don't get you n00bs that scream FORMAT for every little problem that occurs, it's really a waste of time.

It's been over two years now. Norton just asked for me to give them another 20 for NAV. I've abused the heck out of it too. XP Pro, its been great.
