How often do you need to replace thermal grease?

i use as5 and only replace it when i change out a cpu or hsf.

I don't think I'll be buying a new CPU/HSF anytime soon..but I guess I'll know when my temps start rising to throw some on

You should never have to reapply AS unless you remove the HSF

Ain't gonna do nothing to the thermal compound! If this is true, one would have to replace thermal compound on airplanes after each flight.
