How often do you leave from work early?

I've noticed that quite a few people here in the office skip out sometimes 20-30 minutes before their normal leave time. They're not coming in any earlier, but it seems pretty easy for them to leave sooner than normal. It's usually 4-5 of the same people. I've been guilty of it a few times, but for the most part I wait until 4pm rolls around before I jet. Any of you like to skip out sooner than normal?

Depends on the day. I usually get here 30 to 45 minutes earlier than everyone else here in the office (get here around 7:15 to 7:30) and I work until 5ish on most days. On Thursdays and Fridays, it seems like I get out of here around 4. But again though, it depends on my workload. I won't be leaving the office any time soon if I was slammed.

I'm not a big fan of giving extra time to a company that does the bare minimum for it's employees as it is (like the place I work for). There for: I do a strict 8-5. I'm out at 5:01 period.

I do it from time to time. Usually no more than 10 minutes before the end of my shift. I have a pretty flexible schedule. So if I have to take off early I'll just make it up later in the week. As long as the time sheet say 80 hrs it is all good.

Do they take breaks? How long of a lunch do they take? How early did they arrive those days?

Lets say you arrive 15 minutes early, take no breaks, and only take 30 minutes for lunch when the standard lunch break is 1 hour. Even if you leave a half hour early, you still worked over 8 hours. So long as people know you are taking off and you are not needed, I don't see a problem with people doing that on occasion.

Never... I work 8 to 5 and get here just before 8 and leave at 5 or a bit after.

See, there isn't any problem if you just say you're "working from home"...or at least that would seem to be how it works here

really depends on what's going on at work.

if it's slow and I'm not working on anything, I'll leave early... if it's busy, more often than not I'm staying late. it's pretty rare for me to get out right on time.

Most people are paid on a bi-weekly basis, so their timesheet consists of two weeks worth of work. 40 x 2 = 80.
I'm guessing mcvickj is talking about two weeks.

I'm at work at 0445 and I leave 1715-1730. So I'd have to say I don't leave early :p

Most days.
I like to sit down in the cafeteria and read for a little bit. Helps me get ready for the work day.

Our lab is pretty flexible. We dont really have a set stop and start time.. I usually come in between 8 and 9, and leave between 4 and 5.

There are plenty of days I will leave early (even up to an hour), but there are other days where I stay late as well. If I know im not needed, i'll leave.

There isnt any official policy regarding flex time, but I tend to work a little extra during the first part of the week, and leave an hour or two early on fridays.

I noticed the same thing...
He asks how often we leave FOR work early, then talks about leaving FROM work early...

For about 10 years, I commuted approx 100 miles each way into the SF bay area for work. That usually meant I was up at 0230, out the door no later than 0400 to be at work for an 0630 start.
My work shift was variable on a daily basis, but rarely less than 10 hours.ONCE in a great while, we'd get off at 8 hours...but that was only about once per month...it was much more common to work 12-14 hours.(double time FTW!)

We have no real set "Work Hours", but in this area, Construction is usually 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
I like being in my office between 6-6:30 each morning. Gotta beat everyone else in.
I usually leave around 4- 4:30, but have been known to stay some wicked late hours!

My schedule is officially 8a-5pm, but I rarely work that. Whenever the boss needs me to come in early, I will. If I have to stay late, then I do.

The boss remembers this and doesn't give a frak if I dart out of here a little early. He does, however, have a problem when I come in at 8:30 instead of 8. I haven't figured that one out yet...
