How often do you go to the dentist?

I'm 22, no problems with teeth, they are white and healthy looking:), but I haven't been to the dentist since July '97. (Hate going to the dentist for some reason). I take care of my teeth, floss reguarly etc. I'm not insured right now, but I will be in around 4 months. Should I go soon for a cleaning at least and pay out of my own pocket, or put it off for a few more months? Is four years considered a long time to go without a cleaning?

I go every six months.

Pay for it. A $60.00 cleaning will prevent hundreds of dollars worth of fillings (and the added bonus of no toothaches).

Don't put it off.
My husband who is 23 brushed his teeth twice a day but didn't but hadn't been to a dentist in several years. Finally went about a year ago. We spend about $2000 getting his teeth fixed. He knew he had cavities but had no idea it would be this bad. Had to get his wisdom teeth taken out which the worst. Several cavities filled and two crowns. And we do have insurance.

Every 6 months. I've only had two fillings, and those were when I was 10 or so. I brush often, but I don't floss that much.

Every 6 months for the cleaning and check up. I usually have cavities everytime, but they are so tiny that my dentist fixes it up in a few minutes without any novocaine. If I don't go this frequently, I can't imagine how bad my teeth will be.

Gotta go with everyone here. Better get yer teeth checked. You can't see your cavity that's for sure and it doesn't really matter how often you brush yer teeth, they can still haunt you.

I haven't been to a dentist since 1995. I think I'll be going soon, though. I only have one cavity (that I know of) and my wisdom teeth aren't bothering me at all.

Every 6 months. Might suck for an hour but I would rather suffer an hour of inconvienance rather than a few hours of pain (depending on whats getting done)
