I'm starting to realize I'm getting ripped off. I dropped off 7 articles of clothing.
4 pants and 3 polo shirts. The bill came out to $30. I dropped it off Tuesday morning and picked it up Friday evening. Isn't that kinda long? I wish I could buy a danm presser.

What's the advantage to dry cleaning as opposed to chucking them in the wash and ironing afterwards?
Or are these like $100 shirts?
I've never dry cleaned in my life, I didn't know they made clothes anymore that required it. :D

My gf and I send out our laundry every 2 weeks. It's usually a big laundry bag of wash & fold clothes, plus almost a dozen of my dress shirts that I get washed and ironed, and some drycleaning (half a dozen pairs of pants, a couple of her skirts, maybe a sweater or two, maybe a suit or two). It's generally $50-75, plus $3 for the delivery guy each way.

i work in a dry cleaning plant, doing the actual cleaning and spot removal (as well as equipment maintenance) and *most* clothes dont *need* dry cleaning; at all.

however, its a convenience, and an expensive one. i have all my clothes cleaned there, since its my dads place and its free for me, otherwise the only thing id get done there ever would be the occassional dress shirt.

prices are high because the costs of the work are high, $2 a shirt, almost $4 for a golf shirt, $4.50 for drycleaned pants, $5.00 for starched pants, its not cheap. you can go the discount cleaner route, which usually doesnt include spot removal, or they dont take the time to press and finish off garments as well as a higher end cleaners.

some people find it a requirement to look their best, but youd be surprised how many t shirts (again, at almost $4 a pop) come in, or nasty old workpants someone wants to have a crease in for the hell of it, or some old dress with stains that are beyond impossible to remove someone would pay $9 to have cleaned...some people are nuts.

however, even alot of stuff that says "dry clean only" ... well, it can be washed, if you know how to handle some of it. polyester, cotton, linen....even alot of silks can be hand-washed or "wet cleaned" which is usually a soak and a gentle rinse. in fact, some cleaners are doing a majority of their cleaning as wet-cleaning, and using drycleaning only when they have to.

I never dry clean my clothes. But then again, most of my clothes do not need to be dry cleaned.

I guess no one here likes to look presentable. I dry clean about twice a month and its about 1.75 a shirt. I also try to avoid pants, but its like 3.50 when I do it.

I hate having to iron some of my pants. Like I have two pairs of cargo pants and ironing the pockets is time consuming!

I just like dry cleaning my polo cuz they press it for me. It seems every freaking time I wash them they shrink.

you do realize that most of AT is either in HS or college, many of us do not need clothes the need dry cleaning currently

personally i dont own anytthing that is DC only, i have plenty of shirts and pants, and they can go in the normal washer, saves money and time, look just as nice when i need to as anyone else

I don't need to wear suits to work, so I only dry clean the two I have every so often.

Would dry cleaning my dress shirts keep them from fading and looking "worn" quickly? I've considered doing that.
