My Jeep leaks/burns oil so bad I just add about 1 quart per week, six quart capacity, so once every six weeks. 268,000 miles.

Although I don't think it's necessary anymore as it was in the past, one every 3000-4000 on new vehicle which equates to about once every two months

Is every 300 wise? Is there a 'break-in' period for oil? Seriously cause I have no idea.

About every 3-4 months. I go by length of time since I don't put that many miles on my cars. Both cars also run synthetic.

I think he forgot a 0 :p

Anyway - I try to change mine every 3000 miles. My car starts to complain (starts smoking a little) when I get within about 400-500 miles of that mark, so I might as well. The old Ranger that I used to have did the same thing.

I usually ignore the time and go by mileage. And, as far as mileage goes, I listen to the owners manual. Most vehicles it's 3000, some it's 4 or 5000 (jeep cherokee's used to be 5000 back when I had one)

Roughly every 7,000-9,000 miles.

A good running engine does *not* need to be changed every 3,000 miles. And I use good oil. (Royal Purple)

Even on normal oil, an engine generally doesn't need it every 3,000 miles. Look up the details on google.

I haven't changed the oil in my girlfriend's car since I bought it over a year ago... I should probably do that.

No car right now, but I try to change my bike's oil every 3-4 months or so. No use measuring mileage on that thing, as I've put maybe 3,500 miles on it since last August.

2002 Honda Civic. Owners manual says I should do it every 10,000 miles. I typically do it every 5,000 though as I'm cautious.

Is there a "severe condition" schedule on your manual? My 2003 Acura CL has two schedules, normal and severe. I just follow the severe one to be conservative.
