try to brush them twice a day, sometimes once a day in the morning.

2 times a day. I have a strict regimen with the flossing, mouthwash, and the tongue cleaner now after visiting the dentist for my first cleaning in a couple years. It wasn't all that bad but it made me realize how much I had been neglecting my teeth. I guess I should brush 3 times a day since I'm home all day anyway... but I get lazy.

How much of a difference do you think the tongue cleaner makes vs. brushing your tongue?

Brushing my tongue didn't work for me too well... scraping it off with a $2 device from Walmart shows an obvious difference. I guess the brush was too soft... and it doesn't get every inch like a nice clean scrape.

I shoot for about 3 times a day, flossing at least once, but it's easy to forget. Sometimes I only get once, if that.

I figure if I shoot for 3 but only get 2, I'm still getting the "recommended" brushings down.

I keep a toothbrush in my car and will brush my teeth if I get stuck in traffic for the hell of it. Probably not the best driving habit, but I can drive and do that at the same time.

Like a moron, I used to neglect my teeth BIG TIME. It got to the point where my gums bled BADLY everytime I did brush. I took for granted the overall good health of my teeth/gums at the time. Man, did that catch up with me BIG TIME. I ended up getting deep planar root scaling (many needles and sharp tools which dig under the gums to the bone) which absolutely sucked. Each eight-tooth quadrant of my mouth required a two hour appointment which meant lost time at work and oh yea, cost me $1088.

Needless to say I now brush and floss 2+ daily now. Don't take your teeth for granted!

When I was younger I didn't brush more than once a day, and didn't floss at all. The result was a mouth full of fillings, and even though I brush and floss now those fillings one by one have fallen apart and needed to be replaced with crowns. I'm averaging a crown a year these days, what fun!

Brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings and checkups is a lot easier and cheaper than crowns and root canals.

Interesting. I might have to pick one up.

I had the same thing happen to me.....my teeth looked fine, butI never really ent to the dentist often enough and it was what I couldn't see that was destroying them.

Those first 2 or 3 needles into the gums(each session) were something I never want to have to feel again. Needless to say, I floss/Listerine/brush/Act!/brush tongue 2 times a day religously and use those stimudent sticks and brush at work when I get the chance.

btw, I had a student @ Uconn Dental school (for finals) do my teeth.....final cost=$50 (including 2 fillings....one matching tooth color, one regular silver stuff)

I brush my teeth a guaranteed 2 times a day...every morning and every night before I go to bed. If I eat anything overly sweet or overly offensive (garlic/onions/etc) during the day, i'll brush my teeth again--especially if i decide to lay down and take a nap or something. I'd have to say that my oral hygeine is not too bad, but I haven't been to the dentist in about 15 years...

cheers,
KiM

I brush three times a day and floss once a day.

Ever since I started doing this religiously, I have had no gum or decay problems at all. None in years now.

This is after battling mild to moderate gum disease over and over and having two root canals in my 20s

I brush and floss right after breakfast. I brush after my noon meal and again right before bed. It does wonders.

It also makes for some very easy times when I get my teeth cleaned. I have that done every 6 months and you should too.
