Just burp it every time you go to close it. Sometimes it does build up gas (or let air leak in) so you can burp it more often. But no need to worry about it throwing up all yoru food if you don't burp it.

I believe the reason you only have to burp the round (as in circular ) ones is because a square-shaped is sort of self-burping. Correct me if I'm wrong.
