HOLY $HIT! :Q

409 MHz core for a GF4?
775 MHz memory?
~4 GHz P4?

Give us some Quake3 scores or something :D

If that guy can get a gf4 overclocked that much, he could do even more with a 9700. the only answer to the topic is "Get NV30 out sooner"

WOW! :Q:Q:Q:Q:Q

That sure is a lot of work just for a higher 3DMark score. I guess some people are really addicted to that benchmark....

I don't know about you, but i think i am pretty damn impressed by that 4 ghz p4 !

Just a question, do you think those chips and boards are shot now? Or do u think he could keep using them?

All that work just to get a higher 3DMark score? That's absolutely crazy man, at least play some games or something. Hell, even word processing is more productive than just running 3DMark!

I think the boards would be still working, it's just LN2 ;)

That's pretty impressive though. Hehe He should sell those cards and make a bundle. I would pay for one cause I'd be worried about frying my components by doing all that voltage modding.

Edit: He only got 87 fps in Nature but the shot that I saw earlier today of a 9700 got 96 fps in Nature and it had like 2000 less 3dmarks. I think that something is strange with the scores.

I can't wait to see what the 9700 will bring when it comes out. Things definitely look sweet.

uhh it says "This benchmark was not run at the default settings" so what resolution do you think he was at? just sounds a bit fishy.

It's not really about the 3dMark score, that's just a result. Its the quest that's fun.
Just like nobody really needs to lower their 0-60mph times on their car, yet millions of people spend tons of money to do just that.

You can also see where it says game detail set to LOW!!

I'm not sure if that is a default setting in the 3dmark testing or not as I don't care for synthetic benchmarks, but I can safely guess that that new Radeon whould still wipe the floor with overclocked 4600ti in real world benchmarks with everything maxed!!

i also wonder if those people who post those incredibly high 3dmarks have any artifacts, or a lot of artifacts and just go as fast as they can just for the highest score.

AFAIK, I don't think that setting affects the benchmarking portion of 3DMark2001, it only affects the built-in game that's included if you have the pro version of the software. It defaults to low when you start up 3DMark2001 and run the default benchmark.

Read the 3DMark forum, it's hilarious how many people brag about their scores and then mention... how their system is barely stable, displays many artifacts, enabling point-sample filtering, some of them disable all texturing... hell, I've even heard of a few going so far as to reduce the scene to purely wire-frames.

It's patently ridiculous the extremes many of them go to just to say they have a high 3DMark, regardless of how applicable it is to real world usage.
