How not to manage money...

My dog recently decided to destroy the remote for my HK (Harman Kardon) receiver. My first instinct was to replace the remote, but I am now contemplating buying a new receiver. I know I should buy a new remote, but instead I will lay down $1000-1200 for a new receiver. Why must I spend all this money that I don't have?

If you don't have the money, don't spend it. How secure is your job? What happens if you'd get laid off next month? Save your money and just get a remote.
