You're guaranteed a salary for seven years in a job you like. You aren't going to be laid off from my imaginary company :p.

It depends on the work then, most tech jobs prefer experience to a degree, and 7 years is a long time, however they look poorly upon the fact that you didn't finish school.

No amount of money on that list would even make me consider leaving school. I'm thinking half a billion and I would take it. :D

I'd be happy with 75-100k a year for 7 years because I'd be smart with it so then I could go back to school when the job was over, unless something else came up.

it would take at least a million a year, for me. i intend to make that much eventually, so anything less would be not in my favor.

On a different forum there was an argument that pro-sports were bad because they kept young people from getting an education.

Even though this wasn't the most scientific poll, it proved my point that college education is generally viewed as a tool to make more money. Nothing more, nothing less. The parties are nice though.

Thanks to everyone who voted.

Way too many nerds here. The only thing college degree is good for is helping you get a job. If some company offered me money to leave school and the money was guaranteed for 7 years, you bet I'll leave. I'll need at least 50k a year since that's what a decent college grad will pull in with a decent job. Same with trade school.

0 i'd leave without a offer

Exactly, 3 years of college which has led me to a dead end. Going to become an electrician. Fvck school

College isn't for everyone. Going to trade school and learning a trade is lot better option for some people.

You've the right idea in trying to become an electrician. You'll probably make more money than most college grads here. If I didn't go to college I would either apprentice to become a plumber first or electrician second. A good plumber will make more than most doctors and lawyers.

I've thought about this from time to time; in the end, being so close to graduation, I don't think anything would make it worthwhile to me (unless the company offered me 7 figures). 7 figures might make it worthwhile, in that once my contract was up I could immediately come back and still have a good standard of living, and I could study the subjects I really, deeply wanted to (like Latin and history, not that I'm unhappy with Econ and Acctg).

Having graduated from UCLA 10 years ago, I can say it was the best years of my life. I met the people who I'm still friends with. Made the connections that still carries me in my work. I easily give up my job to go back to those days. My wife thinks I'm crazy to want to quit my job to go back to school and get more degrees.

There will always be money to be made. You can never buy back time.

Stay in school.

I would want enough money so that I would be set for life. If not, school it is for me.

I would need more job security than 7 years. Then again, depends where I am living. $150K in the Bay Area is an average, maybe upper middle-class salary. Somewhere in the midwest, $150K is almost 3x what some people make.
