If cable shows didn't have commercials then they would be massively craptastic because their budget would be like $50 per show. There's no way any FX show would be even remotely good. It would be like dogville. Amateur actors standing on chalk outlines on an empty stage talking about plastic surgery and firefighting.
Why not say surround sound and color tvs don't exist while you are at it? Totally stupid, pointless question if you exclude DVRs.

I remember when you just had the previews and then the feature presentation. Then a while back commercials started appearing. First it was just one or two commercials... usually Coke and/or a car commercial. Now you go to a theater and have to watch 6 or 7 of them. WTF!? I went to a movie last week and saw about 6 commercials and 2 previews! Fvck that! I want the owners of Fanta to go bankrupt.

I agree, recording and pausing are huge features of a DVR, but still, commercial skipping is also a VERY big feature, at least for me.

Alright so let's say your question is really would you pay for getting rid of commercials if dvrs couldn't skip them (possibly due to some FCC ban)? I guess that depends on how the money was distributed. If the money I pay goes directly to the networks whose shows I watch, then yes, I guess so. If it just went to a big pool like cable does now, no.

Okay, I'd agree, that's a better question. And the money would go to the networks in order to produce higher-quality shows.
I'd probably pay $10 a month, but no more.
I pay $0 for my cable TV and that include the "no commercials" option. It also includes the "no channels" option, but that doesn't bother me.

Not just "the networks". If I pay $10/mo then it would need to be distributed precisely in the ratio of what I watch. I don't want $1 going to the golf network because I never watch it. Using this model, if I paid $10, it would go largely to FX with a splash for Sci Fi and Bravo. That is the only way to keep the system honest.
