Looking to buy from a good friend. It was kept like a baby but has some signs of body rust, from scratches here and there (off roading). I know nothing about jeeps. lol

It depends very highly on the area, resale in the southwest and other places where 4 wheeling is popular drives up the price. Also, the 4 cyl engine isn't as desirable as the 6 cyl. It'll move the vehicle, especially with the manual, but on the highway with the AC on it won't feel like it has much more power to give. Lifting it and putting on larger tires would make this even worse.

Check the floorboards for rust, sagging springs, and for oil leaks.

Redone? He cut out the floor panels and put in new ones? If that is true that's some pretty serious rust.

Around here, it would go for around $4,000 or so. Check Craigslist in your area, and see what they are going for....
Wife had a '97 when they first came out and loved it. First year for the coil spring suspension and the reborn round headlights.
