How much would you pay for this puppy?

I found an ad written by this person looking for someone to take in her dog because of her own irresponsibility. I have been thinking about getting a playmate for Boba, and "Tiny" is currently 1.5 pounds and will grow to be no more than 4 pounds.

She claims to have purchased the dog for $900, and asked me if I would pay $400-500 for the dog. I think that's a bit high, especially given the fact that she is looking to get rid of the poor thing.

I would be happy to pay a small adoption fee as I did for Boba, but $400-500 is quite pricey.

Tiny 1

Tiny 2

Tiny 3

$0
i don't like p00ping dogs
they p00p all over the place and then i step in the p00p and have smelly dog p00p on my shoe
and sometimes they bite you on the butt
no dogs for me, thank you

I would pay $90 for it. That's what the humane society near me charges, so I don't see why I'd pay any more than that for a dog, since I'm not taking it to any dog shows or hunting with it.

I'm guessing she was initially sucked in by its cuteness - amazing how many people are surprised by the fact that puppies actually poop, pee, throws up, and need enormous amounts of attention in addition to being adorable.

I think that "Tiny" might be in danger of being eaten by a duck if anyone took it out hunting. 😛

I think my cat would beat the stuffing out of it, for that matter... she already slaps around my dog, and he's about 100 times the weight of Tiny 😉

It is cute. Something about expensive tiny dogs and their medical care requirements would turn me away. OTOH my cats would probably take care of it real good.

I would pay whatever the adoption fee is at your local shelter.

I personally don't get paying hudreds of dollars for a dog unless (as stated above) you are showing them or hunting with them

I'd tend to agree at this point. The adoption fee at local shelters around here range from $80-200, depending on whether or not the animal needs more serious medical treatment.

There is a place in NYC called "Le Petite Puppy," and they sell puppies for $1500-4000 each! :Q

wow. that's one cute puppy.

I personally wouldn't pay that much...and you'd think if she was so set on getting rid of it she'd settle for a bit less than what she's asking for. I'd over maybe 250 at most..and tell her to take it or leave it. Then call ASPCA on her if she refuses. lol.

An e-mail from the current owner:

"I have a beautiful 9 week old puppy that is a Yorkie mix. I'm sure you can tell by the pictures that she is beautiful and the cutest puppy on the internet.

She is in perfect health. Has had her first shots and next ones aren't due until the end of April. She is playful and lighting quick even though she is really tiny, weighing about a pound and a half. She shouldn't grow more than 4 lbs. in her entire lifetime.

I have her peepad trained but every now and then she has accidents and I don't have the patience needed to train a puppy. I thought I did. But, I want to give her to a good home where she will be loved.

I will include a whole bunch of stuff that I bought for her (Over a hundred dollars in accessories, FREE). Her carry bag, bed, bathing products, wipes, food, nutritional supplement, brush, toys, chew bones, etc.

I bought her for 900. There is someone who has offered me 650 , and I went to their home this morning and it was disgusting and dirty and full of other animals. I just took my puppy and came back home. I will accept any offer that is fair.

She is the cutest puppy you will ever find. Just please email me quick if you're seriously interested because I have a friend who has offered me 450 and eventhough this is so low a price for a puppy worth 1000- I am willing to take it if I don't get another
offer today. Would you be willing to pay the same or more?

SHE IS ADORABLE.

She loves to sit at your lap and watch tv with you or just follow you around the house when you're on the move. She's ok being alone, just whimpers for a second and then goes about playing with her toys. She's a real sweetheart."

Agreed, I was surprised the dog isn't purebred, either! The most expensive mixed dog I have ever seen was at the place I mentioned earlier, Le Petite Puppy in NYC. They wanted $1800 for a 1/2 corgi, 1/2 dashchund mix.

Another e-mail I just received:

"She is 75% Yorkie and 25% Pomeranian.

I have had her for one week. We made the purchase on impulse and now we're realizing how much time it takes to raise and train a puppy. I am worried that I am not giving her the attention she needs.

I bought her from a woman in North Hollywood who loves Yorkies and has a few of her own. I spoke with the vet that she takes her puppies to and the vet recommended her as an honest person.

Her parents were on site and in perfect health.

She was living with a couple of other dogs and was doing fine. She was adorable when we brought her home. Wouldn't leave our side. She is loyal and friendly, but is also the type of dog who will always know the difference between the owner and a stranger. Which is an excellent quality!

I really want to be fair and let you know that someone has been very interested in my puppy and hass offered me 650 in payments. It's low, and I am not happy with it, but my wife is seriously considering this offer."

$650? Forget it.

all the mentioning of other people's offers is really making me think this is some type of scam or something.
