My boss's wife has her own business and he just asked me to help her setup some new computers (format and install xp, office, etc). Now I am the IT guy here at the company and my boss and I get along really well. I would normally charge $75/hour but I don't want to seem like im overcharging her or anything. What would you guys do and how much do you charge ?

just formatting etc? just charge a flat fee. not like you're going to be going back to tech service alot so an hourly fee would defeat the purpose. $120 down if you usually charge 75/hour

If you undercharge her, then you'll no doubt get calls from her all the time.

I charge £30/hour which is just over $50. If $75 is your normal rate why not stick with that? Or you could say that as you know them you'll do it for a reduced rate of $60?

take whatever you think is the maximum possible $/hr they would pay, and triple it
that way they will say no and you won't have to post here about how much they suck because they call you 4 times a day and you have become their support slave

Think twice before getting involved with the boss' wife for any reason (all jokes aside). If things go south with that deal, your job could be placed in jeopardy or at the very least become extremely awkward.

$50 per PC for format and clean install with all drivers software etc... but if you have to go onsite you also have to account for gas and travel time both ways
