All this talk about salaries has made me wonder how much more would the job my dad does pay there. So anyway by american standards he doesnt make that much atm. So what if he worked there?

So how much would he make for a job like this: he is a head of R&D at company employing around 70 people, turnover is around 35 million $. He leads a group of 15 researchers. Ph.D in (micro)biology. Thats about all I know...

Anyone dare to guess?

$1.75 a week by the time you factor in inflation and high gas prices thanks to our wonderful president and his astounding economical wisdom.

As usual, we'll blame the current president for all problems.

Back to what this thread was actually asking, its hard to say. I can't imagine he'd be making less than $100k, seeing that he's in management with a Phd in microbiology. But really it depends on the employer...

Depending on specifics such as

Past History
Work Expereince
Success Rate of projects
Companys EVA

anywhere from 130-300

Of a 70 person company that seems to have more of a product then service (microbiology) it would seem that the only people above him would be a VP or two (who would be the CFO) and the Pres (who would be the CEO).

Product based companies are big on their RD side unless they have a static product such as cement.

If it was service based then things would be different.

What's their profit margin?

I would think so, too. But $35 mill is not much for a drug/R&D company, so meh.... don't know.

turnover was $35 mill.

I don't know about 300 Gs... 130 sounds reasonable.

My dad was in the same position. Head researcher. Even figured out a chemical formula that made the company millions (the 3 researcher before my dad all died of heart attacks from overwork). He got paid squat, they p0wned him bad. :( Too bad his English skills aren't that good, because if it was, I doubt they would have gotten away with that crap.

He's now making 70-75k. Doesnt get any bonuses really, except for his patents and trips he has to make, so anything 100k+ sounds quite good :). Especially knowing how much less they tax there...

It depends where you live. A Silicon Valley salary is a lot higher than an Alabama salary.

Entry-level engineers can make over $70-75k.

Tell your dad to put up his resume online at places like monster.com and keep an eye out in general for positions in this field, looking at current US openings for something on his area should give you a good estimate what he can make.

He'll just a specialist w/ a 1 year contract w/ addition 2 years pending performance. $35-$40K/year. That's all he's getting.

Well are you going to tell us how much he makes in India or where ever he is working?

I would imagine he would be making around $200,000 at a reputable biotechnology company based in California.
