I've got a pretty nasty crack in my windshield. Lets say its not reparable, how much would a new one cost me? (carparts.com doesnt seem to carry glass parts)

insurance replaced mine for free (state farm)

it cracked as a result of rocks from a dump truck flying off the back of it.

some shady places offer a deal where they quote enough to build in your deductable, so it doesnt cost you anything.

I could use some advice, too...'was sitting in the passenger seat when I saw a bigass black ant crawling up the middle of the right side of the windshield. I leaned forward and smacked it. It promptly cracked and spiderwebbed about a foot into the right side (going right-to left) and from almost top to bottom of the glass. The cracks go all the way through the glass and I can feel them on both sides.

How much?

lets assume that as a 20 year old male new jersey driver I have the most pathetic stripped down liability insurance you can think of (and am paying twice as much as you for it).

I hate dealing with insurance companies and deductibles. Plus I'm paranoid that since I'm filing a claim it will flag my account and my rates will go higher.

So I would pay out of pocket, I'd say around $150 professionally installed.

i looked around in my mum's coupons and found a place that charged me $100 cash/credit and fixed on site. They did an excellent job, but they are local. Call around, but file your claim first and see how much insurance will cover ane find out your deductable.

a little OT... there's a small crack in my lower right part of the windsheild..i didn't mind it at all..

but when my friend saw it he said i should get it fixed. I said "no thanks man, i'd rather just wait till its halfway up the windsheild" i mean it can only get bigger right, so ill wait till its bad.

you know to put clear nailpolish in that crack/spider, right? It's a quick, inexpensive fix to stop from spreading.
