If someone wanted to open say a Pizza Hut or something, how much time would this require to maintain?

Would a lot depend on how good of a manager you can find? Is it something a person could do while maintaining a daily job?

I don't see why not. I mean if you had a GOOD staff and most importantly, a good manager, it could run itself.

i personally wouldnt trust too many people who have been hired to run a business trying to get off the ground. so much can go wrong. then again it doesnt hurt to have an expert(somebody with years of experince) around when things get crazy. i would think its best to take some time of from the daily job to set it up, but afterwards i dont see why someone couldnt do both.

I think money is a huge issue for large chains like Pizza Hut. $500,000+ initial investment isn't unheard of. :roll:

I stand corrected...according to this site...it's more along $50-100K Text

Papa johns = $225k Text
Dominos = $350k Text

Friendlys = $1million+ Text

Most also require a proof of net worth. For McDonalds it is $2mil+. If you have that kind of money do you want to spend 60-80hours/week dealing with greasy food and fat slobs?

Yes it's possible but you will need strong management that you can trust. This also brings up your operation cost and will lower your percentage of the gross a percent or two.

my uncle has a quizno's, great clips, and postal annex store. the quznos shop cost the most, totalling over $500,000 to initialize (not including wages etc. to continue). its a lot of money, and he does hire managers for each of his stores, but he still has to do the most work. keep in mind not only do you need to equipment/organization/license from the franchise, you need rent/employees etc. as well.

not easy. not easy at all. and requires enourmous capital. not to mention a LOT of risk.

i dont think it would be quite feasible without going full-time but it may be possible in the long run once everything is well settled. but for starting out, its definately a lot of work. my uncle quit his high-tech job when he first started out. even now, it still requires a lot of devotion.
