Blu-Ray (aka HDVD) will supposedly replace DVD and become the storage media of choice for home theater owners. Suppose they were to launch it next year - a few players by large manufacturers, along with a few dozen disks, offering some of your favorite movies in HD. If you were to buy it right away, how much would you spend?
I know i'm gonna be dying to grab one right away. By that time my home theater should be ready, with dedicated room and projector and all, that makes it all sweeter. Not sure how much i'd be willing to spend though. How much did DVD players go for when they came out? That was what, 5 years ago? How long did it take them to drop to sub-$1000? I have a feeling this is gonna be different though. The difference between DVD and VHS was simple enough for an everage joe to understand, but i'm afraid people won't catch on as quickly (if you can call half a decade quickly that is) this time. Most people won't even have an HDTV in their house for at least another 5 years. I don't really care though, as long as there are enough titles available for it. Then again, more buyers = cheaper players and more disks.
