How much will I get paid if I enlist to the army?

how much is the enlist bonus?

how much is the monthly salary?

If I enlist to airforce reserve army, will I still have enough time to work another full time job during weekday?

how long is the commitment?

I think if you enlist, you only train on the weekends. So ya I guess you will have time. You should probably ask your recruitment center

Uh, no. That's the the Army Reserve or the Nat'l Guard.

Enlistment = bootcamp --> Iraq or Afghanistan

Don't enlist unless you want to be gone a long time. I would actually consider National Guard or Reserve, or Coast Guard.

Enough to buy a nice digital camera, so that you can take pictures of the sh*thole they send you off to.

Reminds me of the dude on here who posts pics from Afghanistan... (what's his name?)

The Coast Guard is very difficult to break into. It helps if you've attended a maritime academy or the like. But nonetheless, it'd be VERY cool. 🙂

only certain critical skills get bonuses, jobs where they are short of people. if they are short of people, there is usually a good reason, like the job sucks donkey balls

normally, junior enlisted people do not have time/aren't allowed to have a civilian job on the side. they are often required to live on base anyway, so they don't need a lot of extra money

don't join the military to get rich, you will fail

I'm a Corporal lvl. 0 (newly promoted)

From that, I got a pay raise from Private lvl. 2 (80.90 for over 6 hours work) to 104.65.

Troops in basic training in the Canadian forces make 71.50 for over 6 hours work. You'll make about 5 grand over a summer doing it, totalling in Temporary Duty(TD) and Field Operations Allowance(FOA), each about 20 bucks each per day.

not enough. don't count on joining the guard to keep you out of anything, or assume it will be more accomodating to your current job/life. also plan on being eligble for recall for 10years after you get out.

man this thread reeks of estrogen. Don't join unless you want to serve your country. You will regret it and will be one of these weasels on TV suing the Army because they are sending you to Iraq.

sad but true.

Only if you are a grunt.

You can find the pay scales on the Internet.

Bonuses for enlistments wil depend on what your background is and what speciality you will be entering.

Most bonuses are for re-enlistment, after you have proved yourself.

In the reserves/guard, you will have to initially attendboot camp. AFter that, unless recalled to active duty, you can have your civilian job and report for the week-end training.

Best bet is to talk to a recruiter if you are serious.

Specialized training of any sort will only happen if you go active duty.

Length of contract is usually 6 years for reservists and National Guard members. However, the armed forces can choose to renew it (without your consent) for as long as they want.

Training for non-active soldiers is on weekends (typically one a month, Friday evening-Sunday evening), along with possible summer training and various optional schools (if slots are open and you choose to attend).
