p4 northwoods are 1.525v default. how much is too high?

at what point is the cpu "too hot"?

thanks for the input.

Heat doesn't always hinder the overclock, when you push the voltage past 1.7 or so it starts to break down resistors.

I say wil a P4 1.65, if you can achieve it there, it's not worth it.

is it the voltage itself that does it, or the heat generated by the increased voltage?

From what I heard it's the voltage what's destructive for the cpu.. So even with sub-zero temps, giving a to high voltage will wreck your cpu..

exactly, the colder temps can help defend against that.. However it's just a matter of time before things start to give way..

1.7 isnt TOO bad on a P4 but i would keep it at 1.65
