I get an extra check the week of my anniversary. It will be my weekly average.

You guys are lucky, I got 13.8 hours. I get 80 hours a year. I took a bunch of vacation last year, went in the hole by a few hours, that didnt help.

They don't let us carry over vacation anymore. A couple of years back I had around 6 or 7 weeks, and they really needed me to take them. I said I would take 2 weeks off and they came back with, "could you take off the month".

The day I left my old job, I left 472 hours in my bank. 3 years worth of vacation and sick time, minus exactly one day that I got sick on. Yep, I missed 1 day in just over 3 years.

That was a damn nice check I got a month later :)

They do 1:1 on the vacation buyout, or was it devalued?

Law in IL is 1:1. They have no choice.

My grandfather retired from the government with a year of sick leave (over 2000 hours). I can't remember if he got paid for it, but I know it counted for an extra year toward his retirement.

I'm sitting on just over 7 weeks right now, have to get it down to 80 hours by the end of June. Don't know how I'm going to do that!

about 12 hours left now. I lost a week end of last year because I couldn't be bothered to use it. That will not happen again.
