I'm considering shipping a 2000 Camry (BB value $6k) from Michigan to California. Any idea how much this might cost? Any recommended shippers? Before getting specific-company quotes I'm looking for a ballpark figure from your experience.

thanks,
Sathyan

600 - 800$

Go to ebay motors and look at cars that are distant from you. There are links to shippers that will give you free quotes.

I'd be surprised if it was that low actually.

i know of people that have gotten their cars shipped from CA to east coast for around $1000.
i sincerely hope that it's less for you since michigan isn't as far & it's "off season" for moving.
good luck

You'd blow some of your profit getting back to Chi-town though......

This is definitely a good idea, because there aren't any Camry's in California, so you won't be able to just buy one there. And they are very rare and special cars, so, like a mint condition Lotus Elan, they are worth shipping if you find just the right one.

Don't have it shipped!!! I moved for a job this summer and my car got quite a few dents and scratches and they wouldn't do anything about it because they were near old stuff - although they at least tripled the noticeable damage on my car. I know a lot of other people that started after me who all had similar experiences with various shipping companies.

Of course YMMV.
