I am interested in relocating from California to another state. I figure moving from one state to another, no matter the distance, will cost me. What I am interested in is the ballpark figure....I will have about $4,000 to spend on moving and setting up in new place, apartment living of course. Should this be enough? I also have enough credit to use, if I have to.

It really depends on a lot of things. Will you be breaking a lease? Are you going to be renting a truck and moving by yourself/with friends or are you going to hire movers? Don't forget the cost of gas, tolls, food, motels... Will you be looking to buy or rent a place? If you rent, you will probably need to put a deposit down and the first months rent. Some cities will be more expensive such as NYC. Do you already have all your furniture? If not, be prepared to spend money on that too.
