How much to recover leather chair

I'm looking to get a new leather chair recovered thanks to my roommates friendly cat. Anyone have a rough estimate of what this would cost? I'm thinking the material alone would be more than the chair itself... Also, do you think I should try that liquid leather junk first?

Thanks!
Nate

Edit.. changed to recover from reupholster

I tried that liquid leather stuff once and didn't have any luck. But it may be worth a try since it'd be a cheaper alternative. Depending on the damage, you may consider either a slip cover or upholster it yourself.

Yeah I think you are right.. I just need it recovered. I think reupholstering is inside the chair. I'll change the title

Reason #1253 to hate cats......hijack successful 😉

Re-covering is more expensive then reupholstering.

I got quotes from $350-1100 to re-cover my $500 denim couch with cotton fabric. I can't fathom how much new leather would cost.

Oh, and you do know that many of these places that offer such services have made it out of the stone age and have telephones right? It wouldnt hurt you at all to call them. Most will come over and give you a free quote.

I think you're allowed to use the word upholster. 🙂

upholster - To supply (furniture) with stuffing, springs, cushions, and covering fabric
