edited for different auction :p - This thread was previously about a different 04 mustang i was previously watching. Now edited to be about linked mustang.

I've been watching this auction for a Supercharged 00 Mustang GT for the past week or so. In your opinion, how much should I pay for it tops? I don't think there will be tax on it but i'm not 100% sure. I'm not really willing to bid much more (few hundred bucks maybe) than what the current bid already is.

Anything else i should know about the car? Any advice or anything would be very very helpful right now. The car is actually for my Pop, he's been car hunting for a long time, he wants a fun car. He rented an 05 V6 mustang for a while and liked it a lot, i assume the 00 GT isn't a whole lot different (except it's faster with a V8 and such).

there will always be tax on it when you register it.

the difference between the v6 and the v8 is night and day.

The 05 is the different body style (IIRC, i can't remember if they switched the style for the 05's or the 06's...) so the v6 i think was a little more powerful than the 04 v6.

Oh snap, it's an automatic =(
Consider the warranty mangled because it has aftermarket parts on it, although you can still put on the OEM ones, they may not honor it.

Remember kids, driving a fast car with an auto tranny is like having sex with a condom. It's good, but it could be soooo much better.

Yeah the automatic trans is a bummer. We'd both rather have manual, looking at another one which is pretty much the same but has less miles and is manual transmission.

Thanks for the replies :)

bump for a new Stang i'm watching. Edited the first post.

Yeah i know it's automatic trans, but it's pretty hard to find Mustangs with manual transmission for some reason. I've looked at about 1000 mustangs in the past month, and at least 90% of them are automatic trans.

Have you tried autotrader.com? Finding a 5 speed mustang if freaking easy unless your looking at v6s or convertibles. Just go to autotrader and power search and then enter v8 and manual trans in the search options. Unless you know a decent amount about cars I wouldn't jump into a non-stock supercharged mustang. Just stick to a fairly stock one. Should be rather easy to find a 00-02ish with under 40k miles for $9k - $13k. The convertibles don't carry much if any premium over the coupes if thats what your after.

DO NOT BUY THAT CAR!

1. Have you wondered why the first thing the seller noted was a supercharger with all its goodies BUT does even have a pic of the engine bay?! The seller has so many details pics but why not the engine bay?!

The reason is because this car most likely has a plastic intake. Plastic Intakes came in some mustangs between 98-02 Plastic Intake or (p.i mustangs) had problems mainly because they cracked!! Without going into detail there was a huge recall and lawsuit about it. Supercharger + plastic intake =

2. Get an 03/04 cobra aka Terminator. The late SVT code named the 03/04 cobra the Terminator because it is a factory supercharged monster. Bone stock it really makes 370hp. With 1k of bolt on parts the car is easily beyond a 400/400 beast without breaking a sweat. (Pulley, exhaust, cai, and chip) Granted you may have to pay around 22-27k for one but it is well worth the money if you are seriously looking for a mustang. There are also other supercharged mustanhgs most noteably Saleen and they look awesome.

3. Since you looked into a car with a supercharger I am assuming you are interested in customizing/ fixing up your mustang. The avaiablity on the 98-02 mustangs are dismal. About the only thing you could do is slap on a supercharger and change the upper intake manifold to a bullit. Heck you couldn't even buy a set of aftermarket heads that performed well.

4. White on red looks ugly on that car

5. Its an auto

**JackTackle If you are willing to drive to california for one... I will gladly help you find one in northern california.

Thanks for the advice/info. Autotrader along with most other car sites are over 90% dealers, and dealers = sales tax (most of the time). So i've really been looking for a private party. Most car sites have people asking for too much money as well, i guess most people will consider any serious offer though. The price limit is 18k. Yes, a convertible is a must, don't ask me why :p

White interior would be nice for Arizona. I think it looks alright. Not likely to bid on it though, guess i'll keep on searching. Though i've been searching for a looong time.

There is nothing wrong with a V-8 / Auto combo.

I just ran a 1971 El Camino at the track last year. We did 9.78
454, bored to 478 with nitrous. We did this with a powerglide, and a 3500 RPM stall converter. :)

In most states, you're going to pay sales tax no matter what, either you'll pay it at the dealer or at the DMV when you register the car.

Yes, In Most States.

That guy with the red supercharged mustang doesn't want to part with it for a reasonable price, so i guess i won't be buying that one (probably has a plastic intake like essasin said too). Wasn't too set on that one anyways.

Dammit i really want to get a Cobra, they're so nice. Just look at these - All out of my price range though. Spending limit max is 18k, but something under 17k would work out better probably. Seen every mustang on ebay in like the last 3 months, me and my Dad want to buy something already :p

bump

Now got my eye on this one People say Cobra's are a lot of fun and real fast. I don't know a whole lot about them really...are they all supercharged or what? Not a big fan of yellow or black interior though, but might be able to get that stang for a nice price.
