I've offered to make a website for someone who's starting up a car modification business, in order to offset the cost of what he's going to do for me.

He asked the inevitable question of "how much do you charge". Er, not an idea mate?

I've just replied telling him £20 for domain registration, £10 a month for hosting and £150 for a few static pages, more for anything else.

Does this seem reasonable/ripoff/too cheap?

cheers,

sounds reasonable. You meantion nothing to fancy. Just a few static pages. That is more then fair to me. IF you want to do any php or asp, then that would be fancy.

Yeah I said "more" if he wants forums or anything like that. php/mysql is what I know so that's the webhosting that I'll be supplying for the £10 a month.
