Might check first if the house already has hardwood floors underneath the carpet. Definately keep the marble tile.

Because it's better to have all that dirt hidden in the carpet where you don't have to clean it up?
No, that little stuff doesn't show up on carpet, you can vacuum once or twice a week, and it looks great. With wood floors EVERYTHING shows up. They look great if you like to spend everyday sweeping.
With practice it would take you 10 minutes or less per day to sweep the floor with a floor sweeper, and a good job of vaccuming weekiy of 2500 sqf carpet would surely take more than an hour.Originally posted by: Fritzo
