Hi ATOTers!

I decided to sell my car but can't decide on a price! I really need help! I dont want this post to be seem as advertisement so if you think it is say it nicely 😕

The car is a 1999 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo Quatro. It has 75,000 miles on it. Manual Transmission. ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Has Sports and Winter Package, Heated Front Seats, Power Everything, Kenwood CD Player, Boston Acoustics Speakers and two Pioneer 12' Subs.

It has all the following modifications on it:

GIAC Stage 1 Chip Upgrade (47hp and 80ft/lbs of torque increase), Schroth 4-Point Racing Harness, Kamei Sport Mesh Grill, Motorwerks Shortshift Kit, Neuspeed Swaybar, European Style Headlights, K&N air and oil filters, A-Pillar Boost Gauge, B5 Drive Train Stabilizer (AWE), Audisport floormats, Vortrag Hyperco Springs, Bilstein/Neuspeed Sport Shocks, BBS RK 17x8 wheels, Sumitumo HTRZII tires.

I also replaced rear disc pads, timing chain and water pump @ 60k. No accidents whatsoever!

I just want to have an idea about how much to ask?

Please dont flame, if this thread is not appropriate, I will delete it.

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Sounds like a nice ride. Check Kelly Blue Book and get a baseline value of your car. Not sure where the mods figure into it though. Many people may be reluctant to buy a modded car, but I'm not totally sure about this. I'm sure you can probably find an enthusiast who would be into it. Try advertising on the For Sale forums on VWVortex.com, maybe?

yes, i checked and it says $13,600. but i heard those values are usually lower than what the car goes for... or is this incorrect? Thanks for the info Encryptic. Appreciated.

Xiety.

People usually SELL lower than KBB... That and 75,000 miles on a '99 is quite a bit of wear. I think 10k and under is normal. 15k and up is heavy wear and tear even if all freeway driving

Ehh thanks for your response but have you read my post? KBB Value is $13,600 and I got more than $6K in modifications on it... Selling this car under $10k is a joke.

I'd recommend trying to sell it on an Audi forum where the people would be able to appreciate the work that's gone into this car. Other than that, I think it'd be hard to sell the car just because of the mileage and the mods put onto the car.

:camera:'s
Sheesh, the nerve of some posters 🙂
I would try and put it on ebay... maybe with 17 as buy it now and 15 as reserve. If you don't want to do ebay, I would say try car shows, w/ a for sale sign, more enthusiasts there, nice car and not alot of people mod them.
*Edit* Be sure to get it detailed

My 14.5 cents

Surely you realize that mods do little to help the car's value & frequently hurt it?

No, those numbers are usually accurate. The retail price is usually on the low end, as the price on KBB is what you can usually talk the dealer down to, because most will start with high sticker. For individual sales, it is usually at least the median. As for the price, you're going to lose bigtime on your mods. You aren't making all that money back. Mods really don't help the value of the car all that much; much like you'll drive a new car off the lot, and it drops in value by a couple grand, you lose 3/4 of the value of your mods as soon as the ignition is turned with those mods in. I would say ask $1500 - 2000 more than the KBB price you got, so maybe @ $15000? And advertise it as having $6000 of mods in it. What you need to hope to hit on is an enthusiast who knows what all that stuff is. If you get no bites, you might have to drop down to KBB value in order to sell to the everyday person. The question is how long can you wait before the sale is made? The longer you can wait out your price the more likely you'll get it. If you need to unload the car immediately, you'll have to drop price. I'd say 15g's is a good place to start though.

I don't think he was referring to the value, just suggesting that the mileage is high for a '99. Imagine it said "I think 10k miles a year and under is normal..." So he's saying almost 20k/year is alot of miles. Have you check the True Market Value on edmunds.com? Definitely post on vwvortex too.

most of the time modifications are a $0 addition to a car on the open market.

Specialty site you may be able to get a little for them....most pull what they can and sell separately.

I mod my cars for my enjoyment and just let it wash in the resell. My 97 VW GTI I bought new sold for exactly what a normal one would and I had at least $6k in mods in that

Xiety - yeah I was just pointing out the high mileage. I really don't have too much experience in the resale value of used cars, mainly just electronics and any kind of hobby i'm into. This is more of less like how any hobby is though - the value of the extras is extremely marginal to anyone except those actually in the hobby. Do you have stock parts? If you can easily replace some of those mods w/ stock ones and sell them, I think you might be pretty well off.
