im gonna dual boot, xp and mandrake, on a 20gb hard drive.

i'll be mostly using xp,

mandrake will be there for programming and for me to mess around with. so how much space do u think i should give to it?

i will not install 9.2 because of that issue where it kills your cd-rom drive (i have one of those drives affected). even though there is a fix, im still a linux noob and dont want to deal with it.

The CDrom issue has been fixed with the updated ISO, and you don't need to partition your drive to mess around because there is such thing as MandrakeMove (live CD).

I'd say about 6gb minimum if you're installing on hard drive, 10 would be better if you want to download big files, install lots of linux games, etc. You could also just download MandrakeMove and don't even bother with the partitioning and stuff.

And Mandrake won't kill your cdrom drive.
