I'm looking for a career position as I finish my Associates' degree in networking, and found this job but it says the salary is unlisted. I meet or exceed most of the requirements except the one about PBX and telephony stuff. I applied for it but I'd like to know kind of what to expect.

The company is non-profit. I want to work there because they align with my belief system. The companty is called Answers in Genesis and they are dedicated to Creation and the science of it. Here's the job listing: Text
-----------------------------------------------------------

Job title: System Administrator

Summary:

Provides network, server and back office support within the IT department as they seek to serve the entire AiG staff. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, implementing and optimizing all network and server connectivity, function, and services. Consequently, this position requires superb technical skill displayed in initiative, resourcefulness and persistence in problem solving and process optimization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Research, install, troubleshoot, support and optimize network/server-level hardware and software
* Assist IT Director and Network Engineer with the design, planning and implementation of enterprise-level technological changes and additions
* Manage and improve ISP and telecommunication offerings and SLAs
* Oversee growth and usage of employee smart phone use
* Research emerging technological tools for possible use in ministry
* Oversee outsourced and co-sourced enterprise-level IT projects
* Continually evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of position's current responsibility set and improve where necessary

Education and experience requirements:

* Associate's degree in related discipline (or equivalent certifications) plus two years client/server technical support experience
* Firm understanding of internetworking topology, infrastructure, hardware and configuration for a segmented, multi-platform enterprise
* On-the-job experience in setup, configuration, administration, documentation and troubleshooting Microsoft Server OSs (NT, 2000 and 2003) as well as the OS X Server operating system
* General industry-level telecommunications knowledge (e.g., PBX technology vs. IP-telephony)
* On-the-job experience in setup, configuration, administration, documentation and troubleshooting mail, VPN, file/print and database servers
* Firm understanding of network security devices, software and threat models
* Experience in Wi-Fi & Bluetooth configuration and troubleshooting with graphic organization, Extensis Portfolio and Microsoft Project
* Expertise in network and Wi-Fi security desired
* Extended expertise in MS Exchange Server 2003 desired

Qualifications:

* Ability to communicate technical issues and concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff with kindness and tact
* Ability to estimate and meet realistic deadlines, perform under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities

What would it pay in the business world, and what would you guess for a non-profit comapany?

I would say between $50k and $70k, perhaps less for non-profit. It looks like a requirement for someone at an intermediate level, so I'd say ~$60k would be an accurate expectation.

Not sure with an Associates degree, but these things vary greatly.

My GF is getting paid $63k w/ B.S.C.S; but some jobs offered her anything from between $49k-$69k for only B.S.C.S.

Assuming degree means something, I would say you would be looking for 30-50k$

Thanks for the 3 helpful replies.

This seems like you're asking for a flamefest for no good reason. Troll? Lock + ban?

That job should pay in the $55,000 to $65,000 range. I'd have zero interest in working for this company, though, since Christian fundmentalists are no fun to work for. I'd imagine that they would have Websense jacked up to the highest filter setting, and doing something like flirting with a female co-worker or telling an off color joke would probably be grounds for termination.

Sorry dude, but all work and no horseplay makes ultimatebob a very disgruntled employee. :)

Well the thing is, pretty much any of the rules and regulations they put on employees are things I would pretty closely agree with, being a Christian myself. A non-Christian who doesn't hold their belief system wouldn't like it, but then you'd never get hired because you have to agree with their statement of faith to even apply.

I want to work for the company, it's just a question of pay and whether I get an interview and so on. I honesly expect it to be more like 30-35K because I don't have 5-10 years of experienece, I am a new graduate. but even 30-35 would be great. I can live with that. I only make 10 part-time now.

bump for the night crew.

I would venture to guess somewhere between 30 and 40. If they're below that... you need to move North (Columbus) or South (Louisville, Nashville, or Franklin).

I already plan to move to northern kentucky when I move out of my parent's house. I hate Cincinnati. It's not that jobs here don't pay, I had an offer for an interview for a 55K position that I had to turn down because they needed someone immediately.

I would guess 40k to 45k for this position in the business world, so I would say its 35 to 42k at a non-profit.

At least, in a market like Cincinati...

$6.75/hr if you believe my former employer.

$40k real world non-profit, probably $50k in business for an AS. BS holder would probably net $60k

Salary.com is widely optimistic with salary projections. Remember: It's sponsored by job search sites, so they WANT to motivate you to look for a better job! Subtract 10% off of that for a more realistic assessment, or even more in Fraggable's case because he's working for a non-profit.

last bump, I promise. I want opinions from the morning people who seem to be mostly working people in this field.
