How much should it cost to change my ATF? I already have the ATF, but I didn't get a new filter....
And also, how much should it cost to have my oil system flushed? I'm going from dino to synthetic....

I'm having my mechanic friend do this, and I just want to make sure he isn't overcharging me :Q

call local shops and get a quote for your car. I'm sure it's a "one price fits all" tag, so...nothing to lose.

He's a "friend", like a family friend... I know he won't screw me but I'm trying to pay as little as possible, as I need to save up my money for prom on Sat and I can't afford to waste any...

DO NOT flush your oil system. All synthetic oils will blend with dino oil and the flush can do more harm than good.

I was just going to say the same thing, with an exclamation point!

There is simply a lot of mis-information out there, not to mention people trying to sell you something. Synthetic oil is designed to be compatible with regular oil.

Anything you add to the engine that warns you not to drive the car simply can't be good for it.

Don't flush the engine oil. Do change the transmission ATF but I'm not sure about having to flush the transmission. If possible have the torque converter drained too.

I think I paid $79.99 for Automatic Transmission Service at the Valvoline Instant Oil Change near my house.

I charge $39.99 for a complete flush and filter change on any vehicle be it rear wheel or front wheel drive.
Why are you changing to synthetic oil now ?
The only benefit you will get is longer change intervals.

I wouldn't flush the oil on such a high mileage car; all the more chance you'll flush out the gunk that's holding the oil in;)

With that many miles I would stay with dino oil.

You stand a good chance of oil leaks and seal failures by changing to the better oil now.
